Fueled by a mouth that never stops running and arrogance as scorching as the shock of red hair on his head, Heath Slater certainly lives up to his self-imposed moniker, “The One-Man Band.”
Hailing from West Virginia, Slater first exploded onto the WWE scene as a rookie on WWE NXT’s inaugural season. Right out of the gate, Slater made an impact becoming the first-ever NXT Rookie to defeat a WWE Pro in a singles match.

WWE superstar lifts up flood victims in West Virginia – Article & Tweets
He’s the Pineville native known for throwing down his opponents in the ring of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). But on Thursday, Heath Slater, AKA Heath Miller, returned to West Virginia to help flood victims bounce back.
The wrestler started the day loading supplies at the Sophia Fire Dept. Bingo Hall and then left with volunteers to deliver items to flood victims in Clay County.
Miller grew up in Pineville and graduated from Wyoming East High School in 2002. He said he just wanted to give back to the state that helped shape him on Thursday.
“To me, it was just heartbreaking to see the pictures, and knowing that I had time off to come up here and try to put some smiles on kids faces and uplift some people…I think I can help too,”
Flood relief efforts continue tonight for the wrestler at Muncheez Bar and Grill on Harper Road, where Miller will attend a benefit concert for flood victims.
Matt Mullins and The Bringdowns, Clinton Scott from Pink Casino, and Greg Lilly from Motion Theater are set to perform. The concert begins at 8 p.m.

PJ BLACK (AKA JUSTIN GABRIEL) DISCUSSES HEATH SLATER
What was it like winning the Tag Team titles with Heath Slater?
They were great times, it was pretty cool. Heath is a very good friend of mine and for the first three or four years we actually traveled together, so I would be spending five out of seven days a week with this guy. He is still one of my best buddies and is just a great guy who is super talented, I don’t think many fans realize how talented he actually is.
It’s kind different when your actually in the business, you grow up idolizing some people but then when you start working with them they’re really not that good. Heath is the opposite, everyone thinks he’s cool, funny and entertaining but in the ring he is so freaking good.
Winning the tag team titles with Heath on three occasions was really fun and I hope we can have another run one day.
Definitely check out the rest of the interview for more great information including his thoughts on Nexus. You can read the full interview here.

NEW WRESTLEMANIA AXXESS ARTICLE FEATURING HEATH
Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald talked to Heath at Wrestlemania Axxess about his past and NXT. Excerpts featuring Heath are below:
Every year WrestleMania Axxess gives WWE fans from around the world a chance to meet their favorite superstars.
However, the performers signing autographs and posing for photos with those who wait in line are also grateful to be there. Zack Ryder and Heath Slater have been on the roster for many years now, but they never forget where they came from.
“As a fan, I would wait in line to meet my favorite superstars,” Ryder said during an Axxess appearance at the San Jose Convention Center in March. “Now I’m at a table signing for thousands of fans. It’s a surreal experience.”
Slater has similar memories.
“Growing up and loving wrestling was awesome,” he said. “I mean I stood in lines to get autographs and pictures. It’s good to give back knowing as a kid you did the same thing. This was always a big deal. So hopefully we can make kids smile here.”
Ryder and Slater appreciate every moment and opportunity they are given. This has helped them endure in the top dog in sports entertainment. They’ve each seen friends and tag partners exit WWE one way or another. The two both believe evolving is a necessity in remaining relevant with the audience and decision-makers.
Slater added: “It is crazy to think about that because you never know when it will be the last time. So for us, we just like to go out there and give it our all every night and have fun doing it.”
Slater said: “NXT is awesome and doing wonders for the boys down there. It’s awesome that they have that, but I have my own goals. My personal goal is I want the Intercontinental title. It’s the only title I’ve ever wanted.”
The article, in which the writer also interviews Zack Ryder and Mark Henry, can be found here.
